Nigerian Journal of Operations Research (NIJOR) is the official journal of the Operations Research Institute for Decision Sciences & Analytics of Nigeria (ORIDSAN). NIJOR publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed original papers that contribute to Operations Research, Decision Sciences, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Decision Analytics, and Intelligent Computing.

1. Publication Ethics

1.1 Editorial Ethics
Editors and the editorial office will:
  • Treat all manuscripts fairly regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or citizenship.
  • Ensure decisions are based on scholarly merit, originality, and relevance to NIJOR’s scope.
  • Provide responsible, objective feedback and maintain confidentiality.
1.2 Author Ethics
Authors must ensure:
  • Submissions are original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
  • All sources and data are properly cited and acknowledged.
  • Conflicts of interest are disclosed (funding, affiliations, or personal relationships).
  • Any errors discovered after submission are communicated promptly to the editorial office.
1.3 Reviewer Ethics
Reviewers are expected to:
  • Review fairly based on intellectual content and methodological rigor.
  • Declare conflicts of interest and report suspected plagiarism or ethical issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts and review materials.
  • Provide constructive, respectful, and technically grounded feedback.
NIJOR aligns its publication ethics with widely used best-practice standards (e.g., COPE guidance) and expects integrity from all parties.
2. Article Preparation Guidelines

Format: MS Word (or compatible), A4 size, single column, double-spaced. Recommended font: Arial Narrow (or a closely similar sans-serif). Max length: 7,500 words (unless otherwise stated for special issues).
Margins: 1.2" (3cm) Left; 0.8" (2cm) Top, Bottom, Right.

Abstract Motivation, aim, methods, results, conclusion. Max 300 words. Provide up to 8 keywords.
Introduction Context, literature review, motivation, and research gap. Number as Section 1.
Materials & Methods Provide sufficient detail for replication (data, model, algorithms, assumptions, software). Number as Section 2.
Results & Discussion Present findings clearly with interpretation. You may split into separate “Results” and “Discussion” headings.
Conclusion Summarize key contributions and limitations. Recommendations are optional and may be unnumbered.
Figures & Tables Number sequentially (Fig. 1, Table 1). Table captions above; figure captions below. Ensure legibility in print and on screen.
Referencing Style (Example)
[1] Author, A. A., Author, B. B. (Year). Title of article. Journal Title, Volume(Issue), pages.
[2] Author, C. C. (Year). Title of book. Publisher, City.
[3] Author, D. D. (Year). Title of conference paper. In Proceedings of ..., pages.
Note: Follow the referencing style required by NIJOR (as specified in your call for papers or templates). Ensure consistency throughout the manuscript.
3. Review Process Guide

NIJOR uses editorial screening and peer review. Reviewers and editors may assess manuscripts using the following criteria:

Originality: New, significant, useful contribution?

Literature Survey: Adequate, current, and relevant?

Aim & Objectives: Clearly stated and achieved?

Methods: Appropriate theory, data, and rigorous methodology?
Results/Discussion: Correct presentation; useful tables/figures?

Implication: Impact on practice, policy, society, or R&D?

Communication: Clarity of technical writing and structure?

Decision: Accept, Minor/Major Revision, or Reject.
4. Open Access & Publication Fees
Gold Open Access: All NIJOR articles are freely accessible without subscription. Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text (with proper citation).
Acceptance & Processing: Free. However, for accepted papers, authors remit a publication fee to support final publication services (formatting, online hosting, and journal maintenance).
